Sports



What are sports?

The sport is any physical activity that involves a series of rules or norms to play within a space or a certain area. 


About the sports

Sport is good for the adolescent because not only helps your body development that is so important at this stage, but also will prevent very harmful habits such as consumption of snuff, alcohol or drugs. 

The physical benefits of sports activity in addition to the emotional benefits. It is proven that physical exercise practiced regularly helps prevent major diseases such as obesity, osteoporosis or heart disorders. 

But it is important to note that while the usual sports is very beneficial for adolescents need to be careful with extreme exercise in excess. A statement from the American Association of Sports Medicine and the American Association of Nutrition says that "some physical improvement programs could be harmful for teenagers if they force a type of intense or prolonged exercise or cause an excessively low body fat."

SportAccord uses the following criteria, determining that a sport should:

  • have an element of competition
  • be in no way harmful to any living creature
  • not rely on equipment provided by a single supplier
  • not rely on any "luck" element specifically designed into the sport
History

There are artifacts and structures that suggest that the Chinese engaged in sporting activities as early as 2000 BC. Gymnastics appears to have been a popular sport in China's ancient past. Monuments to the Pharaohs indicate that a number of sports, including swimming and fishing, were well-developed and regulated several thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt. Other Egyptian sports included javelin throwing, high jump, and wrestling. Ancient Persian sports such as the traditional Iranian martial art of Zourkhaneh had a close connection to the warfare skills. Among other sports that originate in ancient Persia are polo and jousting.
